Sheffield, a city in the UK, has implemented a new lot of augmented reality art throughout its centre. Entitled Look Up, the art features QR codes scattered around the city, which encourage people to look up to the buildings around them and see some interesting art.
The art can feature anything from some weird multi-coloured creatures staring back at you to a giant cat, and it has been viewed by thousands of people since the QR codes were first placed along the streets.
This is all part of an effort to give the spirit back to Sheffield, something that hasn't been felt since the pandemic according to the city's place brand and marketing manager Mark Mobbs.
Sheffield worked especially well for the Look Up project due to it being in a hilly region of the UK, which means that people can easily see the rooftops of the buildings around them. Mobbs believed as well that when art is placed on a rooftop, "the sky is your canvas."
Thanks, Wired.
